Fazilka, May 28 (Ravinder Sharma) :<\/strong> The Punjab government is adopting a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. Following the recent arrest of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Raman Arora, the government has taken strict action in another corruption case, suspending Fazilka’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Varinder Singh Brar. This significant action comes after four police personnel from the Fazilka Cyber Crime Police Station allegedly extorted one lakh rupees from a minor boy, using a video as leverage.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Previously, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau had already arrested the SHO, a reader, and two constables in connection with this case. The scandal was uncovered when a resident of Fazilka filed a complaint with evidence on Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s anti-corruption helpline. According to the complaint, the police officers threatened a minor based on some videos found on his phone and demanded a bribe from the family to settle the matter. The family attempted to resolve the issue through legal channels but was ultimately forced to pay the bribe.<\/span><\/h3>\n

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema had announced the arrest of the four police personnel on Tuesday, reiterating the state’s “zero-tolerance policy” towards corruption. Now, based on the ongoing investigation, action has also been taken against SSP Varinder Brar, sending a clear message that no official involved in corruption, regardless of their rank, will be spared.<\/span><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
