COVID-positive patient dies in Chandigarh, referred from Ludhiana

Chandigarh, May 28 (Ravinder Sharma): News has emerged of a COVID-19 positive patient’s death at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32, Chandigarh. The spread of this news has created an atmosphere of panic among people, as it suggests that the coronavirus is once again returning in its dangerous form. The deceased was a 40-year-old resident of Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, and passed away on Wednesday morning due to COVID infection.

Referred from Ludhiana

This patient was referred to GMCH-32 after testing COVID-19 positive in Ludhiana. He was kept in isolation in the hospital’s COVID ward, where two ventilators were also installed to handle emergency situations. This is the first confirmed COVID-19 positive case reported in a Chandigarh healthcare facility this year. The patient’s death is being viewed as a serious indicator. It is currently unclear whether the patient had the new JN.1 variant of COVID-19.
