Fazilka, May 29 (Ravinder Sharma): People are expressing anger on social media following the suspension of Fazilka district’s SSP, Varinder Brar. He was suspended for allegedly failing to take action against police officers accused of corruption. This has sparked a campaign on social media in support of the SSP. The issue began when the Vigilance Department arrested four police officers in Fazilka on charges of accepting bribes. The government then accused SSP Brar of not taking action against these officers and subsequently suspended him. People are praising Brar’s tenure as SSP of Jagraon and ACP in Ludhiana. Many social media users have stated that Brar always acted according to the law and never bowed to pressure. Meanwhile, advocates Tarun Malhotra, Rohit Kumar, and Rakesh Kumar have accused the government of making honest officers victims of its politics. People believe that this action has damaged the government’s image. On social media, people are questioning whether this is the reward for working honestly. Many also think that such actions will make officers more hesitant in their work in the future.
